The Center for Asia Pacific Strategy (CAPS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sungkyunkwan University on March 31, 2023. Sungkyunkwan University, the oldest university in Korea, was founded in 1389 during the Chosun Dynasty as a Confucianism-based university.
CAPS will collaborate exclusively with the Sungkyun Institute of China Studies (SICS). Professor Hee-Ok Lee, the Director of SICS, is a leading China expert who guides the institute’s research and policy recommendations for both governments and academic communities within Korea, China, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan and other Asian countries.
The agreement will foster joint academic and policy-related programs, including joint academic conferences and joint research. The two organizations will develop and host a series of virtual events and activities that focus on key issues concerning security policy in the Asia Pacific region.
