Mike Minihan
General (Ret.) U.S. Air Force
General Mike Minihan is a retired United States Air Force officer who served as the commander of Air Mobility Command (AMC) from 2021 to 2024. Commissioned in 1989 through the Air Force ROTC program at Auburn University, Minihan began his career as a C-130 Hercules pilot and accumulated over 3,400 flight hours during his service.
Minihan held several significant roles in Korea during his career. From 2007 to 2009, he served as the Transportation Command Liaison Officer and later as Executive Officer to the Deputy Commander of U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) at Yongsan Army Garrison, South Korea. He later became Chief of Staff for both United Nations Command and United States Forces Korea from 2017 to 2019. During this time, he also acted as the U.S. member to the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission.
In July 2018, as Chief of Staff at the United Nations Command, Minihan led a delegation to North Korea to recover the remains of U.S. service members killed during the Korean War. This mission followed successful diplomatic negotiations with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un led by U.S. President Donald Trump.
His extensive experience in Korea shaped his expertise in East Asian security dynamics and contributed to his leadership roles in the Indo-Pacific region, including serving as Chief of Staff and then Deputy Commander of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command from 2019 to 2021.
