CAPS Appoints Urs Gerber to Chairman of the Board of Directors

Urs Gerber
Major General (ret.) Urs Gerber
Chairman of the Board of Directors

Major General (ret.) Urs Gerber has been elected the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Center for Asia Pacific Strategy. MajGen (ret.) Gerber brings a wealth of leadership and experience from a distinguished career in the Swiss military.

It is with great honor but also pleasure that I have accepted this nomination to serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of CAPS,” said Urs Gerber. “I do
particularly thank the Board and the CEO for their support and confidence. I
will be building on it in order to bring CAPS forward as an institution but
also as a team. After three years of build-up and existence amid a global pandemic, CAPS has certainly achieved a lot of its initial objectives. CAPS is well known and established on important levels and relevant communities. Self-inventory and assessment, as well as networking, had been crucial for these efforts.

In order to move forward and further improve CAPS, I will be encouraging
the Board in a short-to-mid-term perspective to develop and achieve tangible
objectives on four major strands: 1) to implement a sound strategy focusing on
our comparative advantages of experiences and skills, 2) to broaden and
consolidate our financial but also human resources basis, 3) to constantly
review, adjust but also broaden CAPS’ target audience, and, last but not least,
to establish coherent and efficient processes in our organization thus
strengthening CAPS as an institution. This is looking like a tall order! But it
is worth tackling all these challenges for the sake of an ever more prospering
CAPS. Thank you!”
